About Us

Our Mission

Our Vision is for youth to be inspired to do more and go further with music, and to use music to build community connections.

Our Mission is to show that:

  • Great music has no boundaries - it spans generations, cultures, and genres

  • Music can make a difference and connect communities through meaningful relationships

  • Youth who thrive creatively and musically are ultimately empowered

Who We Are

The Celtic Ensemble is the lower mainland’s largest – and the North Shore’s only – music program specializing in folk and fiddle music. We inspire youth to do more and go further with music, and use music to build community connections.

The Celtic Ensemble is more than a youth music academy. For more than 25 years, our passion has been to bring a spirited celebration of music to all that we do. Our ensembles regularly perform at community events, concert halls and on tour. Our original compositions draw on Celtic, classical, jazz and folk influences. We engage new audiences, including those who come from more vulnerable parts of our society, to experience the joy of music with us.

Our musical directors, who are both professional musicians and talented teachers, innovate to mentor youth and adults alike, creating a safe space for learning, expression and connection.

We are a non-profit society and registered charity.

Youth (and adult) students tell us they love the Celtic Ensemble because:

  • It is a supportive and encouraging environment, while also being well-rehearsed and challenging musically

  • It feels safe to try new things

  • There is a balance of fun and relaxed connection with the shared excitement and pressure of performance

  • The music and people are diverse and engaging and there is a wide variety of new experiences
